About Kate

Kate is a registered clinical psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Clinical psychologists have specialised training in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of mental health problems. Kate has completed a masters degree in Clinical Psychology. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS) and a fellow of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists. She is registered with Medicare with clinical endorsement.

Kate has worked in private practice as well as several public health settings including an inpatient mental health service, an adolescent drug and alcohol service, and a custodial rehabilitation service. Furthermore, Kate has developed a questionnaire to better understand patients’ experiences of addiction services and has several scientific journal publications in the field of addictions.

Approach

Kate draws on best practice and evidence-based therapies to support clients to deepen their understanding of themselves and their presenting difficulties, and to bring about changes that are meaningful to them. She has specialised training and experience in the delivery of cognitive behavioural therapies (CBTs) including dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness based interventions, parenting programs, and trauma informed care. Kate is a trained Circle of Security facilitator through Circle of Security International. She is also a Sleep, Baby and You provider, a program based on Dr Pamela Douglas’ Possums programs, having completed her training through the Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC) Institute and Durham University Infancy & Sleep Centre. Furthermore, Kate has completed Janina Fisher’s Clinical Trauma Professional Training Level 1 and 2, as well as Level 1 Mindfulness Foundations and Development with the Mindfulness Training Institute Australia and New Zealand (MTI).
